Giving good leaders the tools to be great.
So, what makes a great leader?Being a great leader isn't easy, at first.
You've all seen leaders that you admire - those who draw you in, inspire you, make you feel like you are part of something greater than yourself. These are the kinds of leaders you want to follow. These are great leaders. You've also known those who are recognized as leaders, who you don't respect, who don't keep their word, who avoid difficult conversations, who activate your bullshit meter. Everyone is a leader in some respect - in their own lives, in their organizations in their families, among friends, We set the tone of our relationships, we influence our experiences, and we all have a choice in how we show up. I believe everyone has the capacity to be a great leader if they are willing to do the inner work required. |
How can a good leader become a great leader?
Most of us want to be great leaders, and yet we let other things get in the way: our ego, our defenses, our need to be right, our feeling of not being good enough, our need to be everything to everyone, our desire to not look stupid or weak in the eyes or others, our fears, our assumptions and our past experiences.
Being a great leader requires uncovering and facing some of the parts of ourselves that we'd sometimes rather not acknowledge. It requires becoming aware of the areas where we are holding ourselves back. It requires keeping commitments to ourselves and others. It requires empathy, understanding, listening, humility and it requires continuously working in those areas to do better and be better.

How do you work with clients?
I work with clients (both individuals and organizational teams) to understand their strengths and values. I then guide them through a process of self-discovery, providing the tools and resources needed to grow and develop into the integrity-filled, aligned leaders and organizations they have the capacity to be. As a coach, my clients say my approach is like a "friendly mirror" providing the accountability and reflections they need without the judgement, that I am deeply caring and invested in their growth, refreshingly insightful and supportive in clients' taking those next big steps.
